How to Reach Kanha National Park from Delhi

By Air

The fastest way to reach Kanha from Delhi is by air. You can take a direct flight from Delhi to Jabalpur (160 km), the nearest airport to the park. From Jabalpur, private cabs and taxis are easily available for the 4 – 5 hour drive to Kanha.

By Train

You can take a train from Delhi to Jabalpur or Gondia Junction (145 km). Both stations have good road links to Kanha. After reaching either station, you can hire a taxi or private cab to the park, which takes around 4 – 6 hours depending on the entry gate.

By Road

Kanha National Park is about 1,050 – 1,100 km from Delhi, and the drive takes around 18 – 20 hours. The most common route is via Gwalior – Jhansi – Sagar – Narsinghpur – Mandla – Kanha. The journey is long but scenic, passing through parts of Madhya Pradesh’s countryside and forest zones.

Best Time to Book Kanha Tiger Safari Packages

Booking your Kanha safari from Delhi early ensures a smooth and memorable experience. Since only a limited number of jeeps enter the park each day, permits often sell out weeks or even months before the travel date.

The park remains open from October to June, with each season offering something special.

  • October to February: The forest is lush and green after the monsoon, perfect for photography and bird watching.
  • March to June: Summer brings excellent tiger sightings as animals gather near water sources.

It’s best to plan your trip four to six months in advance, especially if you want specific safari zones or popular lodges near the gates. Early planning gives you the advantage of better safari timing, preferred accommodations, and a relaxed travel experience.
