By Air

The quickest way to reach Kanha from Mumbai is by air. You can take a direct flight from Mumbai to Jabalpur (160 km), Raipur (250 km), or Nagpur (300 km) the nearest airports to the park. From any of these cities, private cabs and taxis are easily available for a comfortable 4 – 6 hour drive to Kanha.

By Train

You can take a train from Mumbai to Gondia Junction (145 km) or Jabalpur (160 km). Both stations are well connected to Kanha by road. Taxis and private vehicles are available from the railway stations to reach the park in about 4 – 5 hours.

By Road

Kanha National Park is around 1,000 – 1,100 km from Mumbai. The drive takes about 18 – 20 hours, passing through Nashik – Nagpur – Seoni – Kanha or Pune – Nagpur – Balaghat – Kanha routes. While it’s a long journey, the road conditions are fairly good, and scenic stretches make it enjoyable for road trip enthusiasts.

Best Time to Book Kanha Tiger Safari Packages

Booking your Kanha safari from Mumbai early ensures a smooth and memorable experience. Since only a limited number of jeeps enter the park each day, permits often sell out weeks or even months before the travel date.

The park remains open from October to June, with each season offering something special.

  • October to February: The forest is lush and green after the monsoon, perfect for photography and bird watching.
  • March to June: Summer brings excellent tiger sightings as animals gather near water sources.

It’s best to plan your trip four to six months in advance, especially if you want specific safari zones or popular lodges near the gates. Early planning gives you the advantage of better safari timing, preferred accommodations, and a relaxed travel experience.
